Potassium Acetate and Potassium Formate for Photovoltaic Material R&D
High-purity potassium acetate and potassium formate are offered to photovoltaic material R&D businesses for consideration for usage in specialised wet-chemical formulations or perovskite research. Manufacturing of photovoltaic glass, crystalline silicon modules and perovskite cells are quite different. Experimental applications cannot be immediately equated to mass-production procedures of all solar panels.

Areas for the evaluation of potassium acetate
For publicly disclosed or in-house developed perovskite formulations, the effects of potassium ions and acetate ions on film formation and interfaces can be evaluated. Whether efficiency, stability, or glass light transmission is improved must be verified through experiments involving the corresponding materials and processes.
Areas for the evaluation of potassium formate
Potassium formate is adequate for modest scale research on precursor solutions or formulations for surface treatment. First, the solvent compatibility, the residual ions, the film shape and the thermal stability should be investigated. It is not just a universal reducing agent or a raw material for the electron transport layer.
Raw material quality
With R&D materials you have to consider moisture content, metallic contaminants, particles and batch-to-batch uniformity. Verification for projects requiring electronic grade standards can only be made from the actual supplier inspection report. A designation of “high purity” cannot be used to immediately infer conformity to a particular SEMI standard.

From pilot-scale testing to mass production
Evaluate the cleaning and post-treatment operations and compare the device efficiency, stability and repeatability of the control groups. Process validation is to independently assess suitability for mass manufacturing.
